Popular Social Networking Sites
Social network sites can be defined as web-based services that allow individuals to :
- construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system,
- articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and
- view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. The nature and nomenclature of these connections may vary from site to site.
A social networking site focuses on building and reflecting of social networks or social relations among people, e.g., who share interests and/or activities. Most social networking sites provide means for users to interact over the internet, such as e-mail and instant messaging
The main types of social networking services are those which contain category places (such as former school-year or classmates), means to connect with friends (usually with self-description pages) and a recommendation system linked to trust. Popular methods now combine many of these, with Facebook, Bebo ,Big Adda, Orkut, My Space etc.Below is the list of some of them with statistics involved with them:
Popular Blogging Sites
A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (Art blog), photographs (photoblog), videos (Video blogging), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Microblogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts. Source: Wikipedia
